WP Practice 2

A smaller turnout than last week and only a few photos, maybe some are heading off to Huntly tonight, hopefully the weather will hold for them.

WP Practice 1, 2008

Here are a few photos from the first practice of the season at Waikaraka Park. I didn't count up the numbers from each class but I'm guessing there were about 10 Stockcars and 1 new Superstock of Shane Hughes making the move from the Streetstock class in the ex Ryan Johnson 177k. Maybe 15 or so MiniStocks, the 7a Modified of Ron Drake, a few MiniSprints and Streetstocks, 2 Sidecars and maybe 7 Saloons including the 8h Cardwell Super.

Speedshow

Thanks to Lawrence McGrath and Gael Wilson here are some photos from the Speedshow at Greenlane Expo. Both had good things to say about the 'Waikaraka' and 'Oldest Stockcar' displays and the presentation of the Stockcars is setting a high standard for the new season already.

The Yesteryear Barn

Reading the NZDTR on Thursday night and I was really blown away to see my website got a mention in the "Dummies Guide to Speedway on the Net" article by Matthew Percival. Fame at last! Kinda cool to be in with some of the sites listed and I really appreciate the nod. On Friday I was heading to Paeroa and noticed an interesting building in Netherton, just before Paeroa, which I will assume is Laurie Brunt's Museum (also mentioned in the NZDTR in Robert Arnold's "Highs and Lows of Last Season" article). It wasn't open unfortunately but just a glimpse from the road was enough to make me want to visit next time I'm down that way. I could see three old stockcars from the front gate and I'm sure there is heaps more well worth checking out.
