Predictable

Auckland Champs for Modifieds, Saloons, Ministocks
February 19, Waikaraka Park

At the beginning of the night I said to someone the winners would probably be 11a Jamie Fox, 2nz Phil Towgood and 6a Bryce Dibley. Two out of three ain't bad as Meaty once sang. 89a Luke Brown spoiled my Ken Ring-like display of prediction by taking the Auckland Ministock title ahead of Dibley, but for the other two Auckland titles up for grabs, Foxy was simply outstanding winning the Modified title and Phil Towgood had to work a bit harder to be crowned Auckland Saloon champ from a classy field including 1nz Brent McClymont. Stockcars provided a great support act with about 22 present even with a number of drivers missing including 2nz Bernie Fox and 29a Scott Tennant. Carlos Chestnutt was a welcome addition but also took the biggest hit of the night from 59a Grant Littlewood leaving the Blatmobile steaming and requiring assistance, not often you see the 64a towed from the track. Highlight of a fairly predictable night was the pole shuffle race between Phil Towgood and 75m Michell Wymer.

Meeting rating : 5/10
Programme : $2
Driver of the night : 11a Jamie Fox
Parking : Free
Best Moment : The Saloon Pole Shuffle
