Three weeks of rainy Saturdays calls for desperate measures so here is another old newspaper article. If ever there was an example of the down side of racing it came for Frank Van Vroonhoven when Huntly were hosting the 1999 NZ Superstock title for the first time since 1976 and any thoughts of a fairytale ending to his illustrious career were wiped out before the meeting even started. The engine never arrived from Auckland and the odds on favourite for the title became a disgruntled volunteer for the weekend. "I've done my dash now, it wasn't meant to be..." Add Van Vroonhoven to the long list of talented drivers never to have won a New Zealand title.
